Hi, I'm Calvin. But you already knew that.
I think people are awesome. I think stories are magical. And I think we have a responsibility to craft lives and careers that are filled with purpose. My core values are kindness, curiosity, connection, and play.
For the past 15 years, I've worked in strategic communications, fundraising, and nonprofit consulting -- and in that time, I've done a bit of everything. I've conducted research for global foundations, and built tools and trainings to help their grantee networks unlock the power of storytelling. I've used those same tools to help more than 100 nonprofits tell their stories through campaign appeals and grant writing. I scaled a start-up consulting firm, defining our services while building and empowering our team. I've designed and led courses on foundation relations and social psychology, presented at national conferences, and even tested the waters as a development director. Now, I'm here to help you.
Whether you are a leader who needs help engaging your team around vision and values, a mission-driven organization that wants to maximize your storytelling, or a nonprofit that needs help securing sustainable grant funding, I'm the strategic partner you need to get things done.
I hold a BA in Creative Writing from the University of South Carolina, and a Masters of Communication Research from the University of California, Davis, where I specialized in persuasion theory and small group processes. I'm also working toward becoming an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation, and I will sit for the credentialing exam this fall.
When not at my computer, you can find me pretending to have hobbies, like tending my vegetable garden, baking bread, or going on a ridiculously long hike with my senior rescue pup, Peach Cobbler.
Let's do something great, together.
